Music at Washington St. was a series of experimental and improvised music featuring musicians from around New England as well as visiting musicians from around the world. The series was started in 2012 by Morgan Evans-Weiler and Michael Rosenstein and was later co-curated by Michael Rosenstein and Jesse Kenas Collins. The series ended in April 2023 and is no longer active.
Saxophonist/composer Neil Leonard and multi-instrumentalist/sound artist Joseph Branciforte present new works and improvisations in quad speaker surround.
Leonard presents a live quadraphonic adaptation of works from “Matanzas," his upcoming vinyl LP release. The compositions were created during a Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Residency in Captiva, Florida in 2016 with field recordings from Cuba made in 2016 for the installation "Matanzas Sound Map" created for documenta 14. Leonard is joined by LP co-producer Joe Branciforte for this performance. https://www.neilleonard.com/
